All respect to Artie, but assuming he's done, the show must go on, and I'm curious to know who people think should replace him...Personally, I want it to be George, but I know that won't happen because of the other things he has got going on and he lives ( I think) in LA. I've been thinking about it a lot, and I just can't decide who I think it should be...

So, if you had to decide Artie's single replacement right now, who would it be?

And as a bonus, who would be the last person you would want doing it? For me that would most def be Ralph...

I agree with George being the best candidate, but it's impossible. Besides George, if I could have anyone, it would be Sarah Silverman, but I know that she's on the West Coast and Howard isn't going to bring another female in to screw up the dynamic. So...I'd have to say...(don't crucify me...)...Gilbert Gottfried! I can't think of any funnier, more entertaining guest. :)

I forgot to answer the bonus question! Yeah, Ralph would be terrible, but I think there's zero chance that Howard would hire him. Look at how the listeners reacted on April Fool's Day.

I've heard the name "Jon Hein" being thrown around in the media, and I just don't see how that would be a good decision. He's a whiz at pop culture, but he doesn't have an extraordinary personality from what I hear on the Wrap-Up Show. I hope it's just a rumor because the idea of him on everyday just sounds really boring.

You made a couple of interesting suggestions. I actually didn't even think of Sarah or Gilbert. Sarah would be cool, I've always had a thing for her for some reason, but its not likely for the reasons you pointed out. Gilbert can be pretty funny, but personally I prefer him in small doses. He could work though, but he would have to tone it down quite a bit, and I'm not sure he would, or could. Some people have suggested Levy, but I don't think he's quick enough, if you know what I'm saying. Jon Hein, I don't get why people would suggest him. I don't dislike him, but I just don't see him in the Jackie/Artie position. What's he going to bring? More opinions about American Idol and Dancing With The Stars? There's way too much of that already.

It's difficult to decide, because it's so easy to think of reasons why people wouldn't work out...

Doug Stanhope, for the Bingo stories alone. Of course, I think they live in like Arizona or New Mexico so it's probably not a possibility.

I think Doug Stanhope would be a good choice too. I think you're right about them living out West, and I think I remember them saying they live out in the middle of no where (?) That, and enough money and the prospect of a steady gig could be all the reason he needs to come to NY. And I'm pretty sure Howard enjoys the Bingo stories too....good call.

I don't mind the days when Artie isn't in, so if they just decided to take a break from this format for awhile, I wouldn't mind at all. They would go back to focusing on interviews and just the rapport between Howard, Robin and Fred. Fred's impressions have been spot on lately and he brings a mellower type of humor.

I agree that Gilbert Gottfried is only palatable in small doses. I don't think they can rein him in enough and he's too disruptive at times. Greg Fitzimmons is good when he comes in. What's the name of the guy that does the David Lee Roth and Al Pacino impressions? He's also funny.

This is a tough one. I feel like Artie fit the dysfunctional mode. But if they bring in any of those mediocre regulars like JD, Sal or Richard, it will drag the show down. And please, for the love of God, no Ralph.
