I can't stand it anymore. I really can't. Yes, Artie Lange is talented, yes he has earned his dues, but this is beyond unprofessional. Passing out for that long is retarded. Being in that position means having to take care of yourself, regardless of your weight. I think he sees his weight as an excuse to just let everything go, even if it compromises his job. Maybe Dominic Barbara is right and he is a diabetic, but he still has to take care of himself if he actually cares about his job. There are so many people that would kill to be in his position and he takes it for granted.
What infuriates me more than anyone else is how Howard continues to coddle him. He gives a weak, 'yeah, maybe I should really confront him now', but all he does is joke around and playback sounds and show pics of Artie passed out. If anyone else on the show is even late by a second or makes one minor mistake, they receive a hellacious onslaught from Howard, while Artie sits on the sidelines with his brilliant witty remarks.
I used to think Howard was a smart, no bullshit guy.

I believe Howard has actually painted himself into a corner with Artie. He has let Artie get so out of control that he basically does as he pleases without any re-course. Why you ask does Howard let him? I believe their are at least two reasons why....First is Howard just wants to come in and put 5 hrs in and get the f@$# out of there and not deal with any issues that arise (Artie and his issues) the second more viable reason is, he knows how volatile Artie is (and I believe Artie uses this to his advantage) and he is afraid that if he fires Artie or tries to straighten Artie out he might spiral out of control and end up dead in a hotel room from a drug overdose ala John Belushi or Chris Farley. Then he would have to deal with everybody blaming him for Arties death. Although at some point Howard might figure out that if Artie was to die he would practically be guaranteed 2 more weeks off ( for grieving) of his strenuous job of getting up early in the morning and talking about the merger or F*%$#@! bulldogs!
sorry for any typo's but I am pissed!!

pistol. I think you hit the nail right on the head with your post. Howard is afraid of Artie...for the reason you stated and because Artie can be very scary when he gets angry. His rants against Sal and Mike have proven that when Artie is confronted he responds with vicious attacks. I know that Dana is the root cause of this. Ever since she dumped him he has been on a big downward spiral. All the money in the world won't make him happy and he just keeps digging his grave ....little by little. Hey, I don't want to see the guy die or anything but I am tired of his behavior and I think Howard should stop being such a woosy and deal with him already. I truly think Artie is a bully at heart and we all know that Howard is afraid of bullies ;-)

Wow.....talk about timing! Melodyr you bring up in your post yesterday about Artie's explosion against Sal and Mike and then today he tries to rip Teddy's head off. I guess all these posts about Artie and his actions lately are mere precursors to todays events!
Excellent timing on the post Melodyr! : )
