A less-perky-than-normal Joan Rivers visited the Howard Stern Show today, and the discussion focused primarily on her age of 74 and what that means. It was the first time on the show where she actually sounded like an old woman, proving that plastic surgery can't keep the reaper away forever. It was sad, really.

Where was the bitchy woman whom my friend and I used to cringe at on the red carpet when she said something stupid to Kevin Costner or Catherine Zeta-Jones? She wasn't present today. Instead, there was a woman so reliant on show business that she talked about having a will that stipulates she should not be brought back if she's only at 90% and cannot perform her act. She talked of her former lover dying recently, and her now three-legged dog having had cancer. She spoke vaguely of actors she had relationships with who have since died.

Yes, of course, this wasn't simply a person giving a speech. There was a driver, . He led her into the old-age discussion by asking if she fears going to a nursing home. But, still, there was just something missing in her voice. Thankfully one thing saved the interview and allowed us all to go onto the next topic without being absolutely depressed. She got on the subject of being dear friends with Prince Charles and Camilla.

Joan couldn't gush enough about those two crazy royals. She said that Charles has a fantastic sense of humor, and he and would simply just get each other. Hard to believe, isn't it? She also said that she has a hunch that Camilla is wild in the bedroom because she's "earthy."

She met the couple while staying with a mutual friend in the South of France to paint. Since then, they exchange funny letters (no email), and Joan said that if she were 10 years younger and Charles weren't married to Camilla, she'd be with him in a second. She didn't have such nice things to say about Princess Diana, calling her a "crazy wacko." She even said that "the boys" [William and Harry] are very happy to be around Camilla because they were around for the "other thing." Now that's the outspoken Joan I love!

Hopefully Joan was just feeling a little tired during the early-morning interview. Next time, needs to lead her into more stories of the royals and other fluffy celebrity topics like he normally does. Can't we stay in denial about Joan's mortality as long as possible? I already have withdrawals every time an award show comes on and it's all so prim and proper. What's that about?

What got me mad at Joan was how she said that Princess Di was the crazy one and that Charles is so nice. Give me a break, Joan is the one who is crazy. She must be to think that all that plastic surgery made her look better. She looks horrid, and it really made me kind of mad that she said those things about Princess Di.

I'm kind of surprised Howard let that pass, then again I was getting ready for work at that point and didn't hear all of his responses to her.
