I used to like Artie Lange on the Howard Stern Show, but I'm thinking not so much anymore. He was the every man on the show, but with the talk of his mammoth shore house, which includes a $6000 toilet and the Sub-Zero refrigerator, I'm thinking it's time for Artie to step down from this role. It's time to get a starving comic in there to bring some genuine every man dynamic back to the show. Rev. Bob Levy would be really amusing these days with his drug and alcohol habit. Wasn't Lange supposed to get a sitcom deal? I thought he'd be gone by now.

I know where you're coming from, but I disagree, to the extent of replacing Artie.
I think Artie has some serious issues going on right now outside of the show, which definitely impacts his performance, but that's part of the magic that happens. I suspect Artie is using heroin again...as a recovering alcoholic and drug abuser myself, I definitely pick up on signs that he's using. That's not going to help matters any, either.
But...I think the show itself is somewhat stifling Artie, too. How many times is Artie talked over when he tries to interject his opinions or quips. It happens all the time. I find myself talking out loud 'STFU and let Artie get a word out'. It's always Robin and Howard, continuing their rant...and it's always opinion from them, never humor.
Artie is FANTASTIC during the news...but Howard is always a cranky old fart in need of a nap by the time the news portion comes along. He hurries Robin, he hurries Artie, he makes comments to Artie, suggesting Artie tone it down. It's just sad. You can't knock a comedian like that and expect them to still be creative and funny. It's too much of a blow to the ego.
I think Howard and Robin need to invest some of their millions into a horrible stock, lose a ton of money and get 'hungry' again. They are the reason for the show sucking ass...not Artie. If it wasn't for Artie, I wouldn't even listen anymore...as it is now, I don't pay anymore and don't plan on it until the show gets back to the way it used to be...ENTERTAINING!

Agreed that Artie is stifled. He brought it up on the Wrap Up Show recently how he told a long story during the news when he first started working there, and apparently that didn't go over well with Howard. Now, once in a while, he will start talking about something during the news with a disclaimer saying that he realizes it is towards the end of the show and he'll make it quick. Sad and pathetic.
The amount of time Howard doesn't allow him to finish a thought is disgusting. He sometimes only gets about two words in, and then Howard interrupts. And Howard never goes back to ask what Artie wanted to say.
Yeah, a miracle would have to happen for Howard and Robin to find the drive to put on a good show. It's not happening.
